When Brand Studio designed a unique children’s book to help Share Our Strength express childhood hunger through a child’s eyes, Mondelez International read the story and called the next day with an assignment. They needed a story, too.

As the world’s largest snack and confectionary company, Mondelez is in the business of joy with chocolate brands like Cadbury, Cote D’Or, and Milka to name just a few. After decades of telling fantastical brand stories from lavender dairy cows in the Alps to transformative British chocolate drops, the chocolate company needed to craft their most important story yet: the story of the farmers and their families who grow cocoa in the origins.

In 2014, Mondelez initiated a $400M program under the newly branded Cocoa Life, partnering with Brand Studio to define, design and launch the brand. The name, logo and art direction was designed to place the heart of the program with cocoa farmers and their families. Cocoa Life has since become a model for the transformation of the cocoa farming industry. Launching on pack starting in 2015, the symbol for Cocoa Life will stand for chocolate that is sourced from cocoa growers who are leading lasting and positive change for their communities and the next generation.
